    Heartline Pregnancy Center Inc. recently recognized individuals who have served as volunteers with the organization since its inception in February 1985. Those recognized are Kathy Hoderek, Lois Jump, Sue Raymer, Gladine McCall and Pastor Larry McCall.

    Claypool Elementary School has a new flag, thanks to U.S. Senator Richard Lugar and State Senator Ernie Niemeyer. Appearing on behalf of Lugar, Niemeyer presented the school a flag that has been flown over the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.


50 Years Ago

October 7 1955

    Karen Latimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Latimer, of Beaver Dam, won grand-champion Shropshire Ewe at the Indiana State Fair.


75 Years Ago

October 7 1930

    Friends and neighbors of Henry Linn, residing three miles west of Warsaw on Ind. 30, were given the opportunity of viewing the largest steer in the world, which is now en route from New Jersey to Montana.

The owner, Jack Guth, of Montana, claims his steer is the largest in the world. It weighs 3,640 pounds and is 5 feet 11 inches tall, and 10 feet long.
