    Tippecanoe Lake Country Club Bridge Group presented the Anna Mellencamp Award for highest total scores for the season to Rosalee Spear.

Second place was presented to Ruth Phillips, third place Mim Bedlou, fourth place Shirley Bricker, and fifth place Carolyn Merryman.

    Nancy Ettinger, daughter of William and Mary Ettinger, Mentone, has just returned from serving an 18-month mission in Switzerland and France.

As a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ettinger had many unusual and uplifting experiences.

October 7 1954

    James L. Rhinehart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Rhinehart and husband of Mildred Rhinehart, all of Rochester, is serving with an airborne early warning squadron at the Jacksonville, Fla., naval air station. Activities of his unit, known as VW-4, the "Hurricane Hunters," are chronicled in a well known comic strip. Jim is an aviation electrician's mate second class.

    At the "Rube" carnival at the Blue Lantern skating rink at Silver Lake, the Yellow Jackets of North Manchester furnished the music. Costume prizes were awarded as follows: Pig, to Gus DeFord; duck, to Mrs. H. Haney; chicken, to Mrs. Gus DeFord; rug, Mrs. Jack Lane; chicken, Mrs. Shamp; box candy, Anna Henry; phonograph record, Earl Fausnaught; tin of crackers, Royal Spangler; keg of candy, Doris West; candy, Margaret Miller; pound coffee, Eldora Haney; barber's order, Eilene Clark; spaghetti and tomatoes, William Hapner; and Quacker crackers, Robert Hapner.
