    The Rozella Ford Women's 9-hole Golf Association concluded its 1994 season Sept. 21. Award winners for the season are Nancy Brown, most improved golfer; Betty White, sportsmanship award; Carolyn Morrison, D-flight runner-up; Mary McCoy, D-flight winner; Marge Mitterling, handicap tournament winner; C-flight runner-up and special golf award; Margaret Reed, C-flight winner; Mary Alice Tillman, B-flight champion; and Linda Clements, B-flight runner-up.

October 4 1979

    The principal of Wawasee High School, Henry Smith, announced recently that two seniors have been named as Commended students in the 25th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp. was presented to Raymond F. Hively, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Coverstone, and Richard Steele, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Steele, all of Syracuse, in recognition of outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, the qualifying test for the Merit Program that was administered nationwide to high school juniors in October 1978.

    Mrs. John Frederick gave a lesson on "Clothing Care" at a recent meeting of the Atwood Home Study Club, held at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Ryman.

The meeting was called to order by vice president Mrs. Wayne Thomas, and the meditation "I Live With God" was given by Mrs. Ross Baney. Mrs. Wayne Hollar gave the health and safety report, "How to Kill a Husband With Kindness." The song of the month, "School Days," was sung, by the group, and then reviewed by Mrs. Ted Egolf. The door prize went to Mrs. Kenneth Miller.

October 4 1929

    At the session of the grand lodge, Knights of Pythias, held at Indianapolis, the newly-elected grand chancellor, Charles F. Loy, of Swayzee, announced that he had divided the counties of the state into new districts for the coming year. He named the counties of Elkhart, Kosciusko and Fulton to constitute the second district of the Indianapolis domain and named Herschel V. Lehman, of Warsaw, as the deputy chancellor of the 13th district.
