Knights of Columbus Council 4511 recently announced the winners of the "500 Years of Columbus" poster contest, which was held for students at Sacred Heart School. Winners were awarded a certificate and a gift from Grand Knight Rick Pacskowski. They are Pauline Campbell, Cody Dirks, Teresa Sharpe, Holly Purcholtz, Danny McNulty, Adam Bott, Christine Kurosky, Ryan Kreager, David Meyer, Loren Boggs, Sara Parker and Kale Elkins.
The Sacred Heart Vikings have won the National League of flag football for the third season in a row, compiling a 14-1 record over those three years - including two unbeaten seasons. Team members are Joe Kralis, Chris Hanson, Kim Lawrence, Isuon Bardos, Tim Clark, Rick Hernandez, Mark Biltz, Frank Vacarro, Joe Lowe, Mike Shaw, Eric Schams, Steve McCall, Richard Lawrence, Ken Bentele, Tom Doyle, Dan Rose, Troy Klein, Mike Zimmerman, Tom Waikel, Greg Barry, John Henn, Brian Simmons, Rob Randels, Brad Stegers, Mark Whitehead and Todd Zimmerman.
Ralph Scholl, who recently returned from seven months duty in Korean waters aboard the destroyer USS Shields, visited Warsaw relatives and friends during his leave. He has re-enlisted for four more years and reports Oct. 29 for an assignment at Washington, D.C.
A Sunday afternoon football game at Hillary Ball Park is announced by two Lakeside Park elevens, one team, the Cookie Pushers, captained by Bert Hyde, and the other, the Cake Eaters, led by his brother, Bruce Hyde. The Warner boys will appear with the Cookie Pushers. These two teams previously played under the colors of the River Rats and Gashouse Gang.
