    Warsaw's Jerry Nelson captured the 1993 John K. David Indiana Golf Association Player of the Year Award on the strength of his recent performance in the United States Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship.

The 55-year-old Nelson, playing in his first USGA Senior Amateur, was the runner-up in the 1993 event to champion Joe Ungvary Sr. of Ohio.

    Two students from Warsaw Community High School's Choral Department have been selected as members of the All State Honors Choir, which will sing for the State Music Convention to be held in Kokomo on Oct. 27.

Angie Huffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Huffer, Warsaw, and Joyce Banghart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Banghart, Winona Lake, were chosen from among 170 students who auditioned from northeastern Indiana.

    Eugene Brumfield, 27-year-old navy veteran, has been appointed to the city police force and is working this week on the 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. night shift, Mayor Mike Hodges announced today.

Brumfield is the father of three children and lives at 115-1/2 West Market St.

    Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lessig, who recently moved into a new home on East Main Street, were pleasantly surprised by several friends Tuesday evening. A pot luck supper was served after which the time was spent in playing bridge. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred McKown, Mr. and Mrs. Leverette Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miner, Dr. and Mrs. Orville Richer, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Rasor, Mr. and Mrs. George Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Huffer and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lessig.
