The Etna Bank, of Etna Green, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Oct. 16. Officers of the bank said that there will be "open house" at the bank during regular hours and favors for all who call.

There were only a few banks in Kosciusko County when the Etna Bank opened for business Oct. 16, 1900. Now there are 11 and of that group the Etna Bank is the third oldest and fourth largest. When Seth B. Iden started the bank 50 years ago, he was the sole stockholder and only officer.

The Etna Green High School boys, headed by their coach, Hurbert D. Dickson, and principal Charles Kern, made possible the best arrangements for basketball games in the new gym, when they took it upon themselves to dig a shower room under the stage some 45 feet long and 15 feet wide. The high school will defray the expenses of equipping the room. The boys, about 40 in number, brought shovels, spades, picks, plows, scrapers and teams. In one day they had the dirt out to the approval of the contractor. The shower room or dressing room will be equipped with up-to-date showers and will accommodate 30 players at a time.
