    The painting of local artist Norma Wiltrout McGuire is now on display at the Otis R. Bowen Center for Human Services. In cooperation with the Lakeland Art Association, the Bowen Center will feature the work of a different area artist each month.

    Russell (Pa) Homan, of Waubee Lake, has fished in area lakes for a number of years but he and a friend, Elsie Bontrager, landed a large specimen on Waubee Lake this week that has him puzzled.

Homan, operator of Ma and Pa Homan's Resort on Waubee, said the 12-15 pound lunker was landed after a 15-minute battle but the fish has no scales. Homan said books list the fish as possibly a minor or leather carp, but he isn't sure.

October 27 1948

    Dr. George M. Haymond, North Manchester, announced today opening of general practice offices at 216 N. Lake St. The new Warsaw doctor spent two years in the U.S. Army, serving for a year and a half at the Percy Jones General Hospital, Battle Creek, Mich. He was discharged from the army in June this year. Dr. Haymond was educated at Manchester College and Indiana University. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Haymond, North Manchester.

    A new club to be known as the "Static Tamers" club of Warsaw has been organized. Five charter members of the club are Grafton Cook, president; John Schade, Miner Rickel, Robert Ripple and Lowell Peterson. A study of radio will be carried on by the club.
