    Chris Gray and Shelly Tuncil recently were crowned Triton homecoming king and queen, with Scott Blackford and Christ Wanemacher being named prince and princess. Gray is the son of Tami Escapula of Bourbon; Tuncil is the daughter of Calvin and Cathy Tuncil of Etna Green; Blackford is the son of Ken and Tina Blackford of Tippecanoe; and Wanemacher is the daughter of Jim and Kim Wanemacher of Bourbon.

    Amy Welborn, the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Welborn, Tippecanoe, and Thad Leininger, the 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leininger, Burket, were named the 1980 Cutie Queen and King during Burket Days in September.

October 27 1955

    Larry Poland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Poland, Winona Lake, smashed a tradition at Peru where he was the first beginning speech student ever elected speaker of the house in the Indiana student congress sponsored by the National Forensic League.

Larry was on the Warsaw High School speech team sent to the congress.

October 27 1930

    Charles Swartzlander, who lives on a farm north of Akron, cut a bee tree in a woods on his farm and obtained 125 pounds of honey. The honey was in six layers and was obtained without any difficulty.
