Dan Vandewalle got quite the gift from his friend, Wes Kellog, for his birthday. Vandewalle, a 12-year0old from Pierceton, hit the jackpot when he found a coupon in his packet of The Basketball Pro Draft '95 collector cards Kellog fave him. The randomly inserted coupon was redeemed for a Precious Metal Card containing a gram of 24-karat gold. The card featured Kevin Garnett, a standout with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Gold cards from previous collections have a value of $500-$15.000
The senior class representation on the Lakeland Christian Academy Homecoming court was Gary Fouts, Barb Sims, King Randy Owen, Queen Kim Leiter, Maria Myers and John Kim.
Jerry Wyman received an award as first winner of the driver safety award contest being sponsored this week by the Chicago Motor Club and The Times-Union. Wyman, 25, a resident of 110 N. Tamarack St., was chosen as the most courteous driver of the day because he observed all rules by taking special care in driving slowly past the junior high school building and stopped his car to removed a large cardboard carton which had dropped onto the street from a truck. He received a $5 cash award and a certificate.
J.E. Baer, of Leesburg, has returned home from Delphi where he attended the annual state Grange meeting. Baer was re-elected steward and doorkeeper of the state Grange and is serving his 30th consecutive year in that office. Others who attended from Kosciusko County were, Mrs. J.E. Baer, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Huffman, Leesburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Orn, of Milford.
