    The bands from Warsaw Community and Tippecanoe Valley high schools earned first division rating in ISSMA Regional Marching Band Contest Oct. 17.

The Tiger's Pride received their highest score at a regional and gave "their best performance of the year," according to Martin Becker, band director. The Viking Guard also earned a first division rating, placing seventh out of 16 bands.

    The Kosciusko County Red Cross honored Mr. and Mrs. James (Ruth Rodeheaver) Thomas during visit of the bloodmobile at the Grace College gymnasium this week. The Thomases have given blood for 35 years.

October 23 1952

    Betty Bowser, 17, daughter of Mrs. George Van Curen, Oswego, was third place winner in the Junior Miss Indiana contest. A senior this year at Leesburg High School, Bowser sings and is interested in dramatics. She is five feet, four inches tall and has blue eyes and brown hair.

October 23 1927

    Harry E. Lewallen, Kosciusko County superintendent of schools, was renamed as a member of the executive committee for 1927 and 1928 of the Northeastern Indiana Teachers' Association.

Two other Kosciusko County teachers who took an active part at the association meetings were: Jesse Bruner, principal of the Mentone High School, as chairman of the sectional committee on rural schools; Russell Dunkeleberger, principal of Monroe Township School, was named a member of the association nominating committee.
