    Creighton Brothers' Crystal Lake Egg Products plant will celebrate its 25th anniversary Saturday with an open house, featuring plant tours between 9 a.m. to noon.

Crystal Lake is part of Creighton Brothers' Warsaw company and employs 50 area residents under the supervision of Gerald Showalter, plant manager.

    Mark Conley, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Conley, of Silver Lake, is one of 120 FFA members from across the nation selected to participate in the National FFA Band. Mark was selected from more than 500 applicants representing 44 states and will play the trombone. The band is to perform during all but one session of the Future Farmers of America's Golden Anniversary Celebration, Nov. 7-10, in Kansas City, Mo. He is a member of the Warsaw FFA Chapter where his advisor is Steve Ehle.

    Maurice M. Rupp, of Winona Lake, and Paul M. Bilby, of Warsaw, were honored at the annual state convention of Gideons, now in progress at Lafayette, when Rupp was elected state president and Bilby was named vice president.

    Emsley Arnold, former county commissioner and a prosperous farmer of Clay Township, reported this morning that he has a "Hoover" ear of corn.

The ear in question is abnormally large, weighing 26 ounces and has 18 rows with an average of 50 grains to the row, or 900 grains in all.
