    Richard Price of Claypool Lions Club has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation posthumously, in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community.

Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the Fellowship is the foundation's highest honor. It is a recognition of a commitment to humanitarian service.

    Karen Elizabeth Ker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ker, Warsaw, has pledged Delta Delta Delta (Delta Alpha Chapter), at DePauw University, Greencastle.

October 23 1956

    The Bourbon team of Dave Martin, Irwin Lemler and Jay Wiedeman, placed third in the recent Purdue University vegetable judging contest, scoring 251 out of a possible 300 points. The will participate in the national contest at Atlanta, Ga., in December. More than 400 teams participated.

October 23 1931

    In the number of students attending Butler University, Warsaw ranks ninth among the towns and cities of the state of Indiana. Those who are representing Warsaw at Butler are: Charlotte Moore, Doris Arnold, Harold Belt and Herbert Lautz. Moore is enrolled in the Butler College of education where she is taking work toward a grade school teacher's license. The others are taking work in the college of liberal arts.
