    911 operators get their share of what may be viewed as stupid emergencies. That was the case recently when somebody called Warsaw's 911 to enquire about trick-or-treat hours for Halloween.

    Kelly Hicks, the 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Retha) Hicks, Winona Lake, and Chad Brandenburg, Warsaw, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Emery (Carol) Brandenburg, Warsaw, received checks from Times-Union Assistant Circulation Manager Chuck Hogan after they were named recipients of the 1980 Times-Union "Carriers of the Year" Award this week.

    Heading this year's Pierceton High School crack band of nearly 40 pieces is pretty dark-eyed Cynthia Wilson, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson. To polish up on her twirling prowess, Cynthia recently returned from Butler University baton twirling school where she received five days' training.

    Mrs. Robert Brady left for Indianapolis to attend the Great Council of Pocahontas. She attended a meeting of Past Great Pocahontases and will attend a banquet at the Dennison Hotel.
