Outgoing Kosciusko County Firemen's Association president Norman Banghart presented a gift to Hollis Earnhart, of Pierceton, who received the Fireman of Year Award last night at the assocation's fish fry at the fairgrounds. New officers taking over their duties last night were John Huff, Burket, president; Frank Hoffer, Atwood, vice-president; Rex Mast, Pierceton, secretary; and Garland Keifer, Burket, treasurer.
Emanuel Kuhn, of Route 1, Leesburg, brings in proof that figs will grow in this climate. He left at the Times and Union office a fig branch complete with one ripe and a couple or three green figs. He imported two of the plants two years ago.
Edward Funk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer B. Funk of East Main Street, arrived home on Monday afternoon after receiving his discharge. He has been with the U.S. Marine Corps for three years and in foreign counties for 23 months. While across, he visited all Europe, northern Africa and Asia Minor.
