October 22 1988

    Lee A. Harman, formerly assistant superintendent for personnel with Warsaw Community Schools, has been named assistant superintendent for instruction.

A recent doctoral recipient from Ball State University, Dr. Harman has been with Warsaw Community Schools since 1966, as principal at Washington Elementary, assistant principal, summer school director and as assistant superintendent.

October 22 1973

    Warsaw Community High School novice debaters Scott Eddington, Keith Pagel, Charles Bunnell and Steve Smith, tied for first place and eventually were awarded the second place trophy at a weekend North Side High School, Fort Wayne, 16-team novice debate tournament. Accompanying the debaters were Abby Meeks, team timekeeper, and debate coach Connie Stavropulos, who served as a judge.

October 22 1948

    A pullet egg broken for breakfast Monday at the Frank Misener home three miles southeast of Warsaw had three well-developed yolks. Mrs. Misener, in reporting the oddity, said she believed this seldom occurred, particularly in pullet eggs, although she has on several occasions seen eggs with two yolks.

    Whooping cough was the necessary ticket of admission yesterday to a birthday party given by Mrs. Tom Holbrook, at Winona Lake, for her little daughter, Betty.

Betty was suffering from whooping cough as were a dozen of her little playmates, so only those exposed or victims of the juvenile complaint were guests.
