    Dr. Richard L. Carman, 504 S. Buffalo St., participated in the annual fall seminar of the Indiana Optometric Association, Oct. 12-13, at Indiana University.

Some 250 of Dr. Carman's colleagues joined him in continuing education programs developed by the IOA Department of Education to enhance the professional care they provide eye patients.

    Christa E. Orr, the daughter of Drs. Joe and Mary Ann Orr, Rt. 2, Warsaw, has been accepted as a freshman student at Palmer College of Chiropractic at Davenport, Iowa.

She will take a four-and-one-third academic-year course of study leading to the degree of doctor of chiropractic (D.C.)

    Evelyn Rarick, daughter of former Warsaw Mayor and Mrs. Frank O. Rarick, was named runner-up to the queen of Ball State college's homecoming held last weekend in Muncie. Muriel Mathias, of Rochester, was named to reign as the queen.

October 21 1923

    Bert Hisey, who sells the "Safety First All-Weather Patch," on September 29, during the county fair in front of the Lewis Sporting Goods Store, sent up a rubber balloon with his business card attached, with the request that the finder return same and get $1. This balloon was found near Arcanum, Ohio, by Sadie Irene Clegg, the finder picking it up in the northeast corner of Preble County, Ohio. It is estimated the balloon traveled between 130 and 140 miles.
