The Indiana State Corn Husking Contest was held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, at Miller's Tree Farm, Idaville. There were 40 huskers in all classes.
Local winners include: senior division, age 65 to 74, Arden Shaffer, Silver Lake, first place; women's open, Jan Michael, Claypool, second place; men's open, Larry Hively, Rochester, second place; and women's age 21-50, Linda Treible, Pierceton, second place.

Jack Knisely, Times-Union circulation manager, presented awards to the six top Times-Union newspaper carriers, chosen from a field of 75, in recognition of National Newspaper Boy Day.

Work on demolishing the Bash homestead at Lake and Market streets has been commenced by Walter Gable, Warsaw contractor.
Efforts will be made to have the site entirely cleared as soon as possible, so that work can be commenced in the spring for the new Warsaw post office.
