    One local high school band advanced to the Indiana State Music Association's state marching band finals competition following regional competition this weekend.

Tippecanoe's marching band received a first division rating and will compete in the finals Oct. 29 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis.

    Steve Devenney, Warsaw resident and manager of Penguin Point No. 5 on North Detroit Street, Warsaw, was named Mr. Penguin Tuesday in an annual awards banquet at the Shrine Building held by the Warsaw-based fast-food service chain.

Devenney was also listed among winners in the franchise's fourth quarter competition among stores for cleanliness, service and gross sales increases.

    The Little Crow Milling Co., of this city, is planning to erect a fine new mill along the Big Four tracks on East Market Street, where the Kinsey elevator was located. the building will be used exclusively for the making of Little Crow buckwheat and pancake flours.
