    The Warsaw Tiger Pride Band qualified to advance to the regional level of the state marching bands final.

En route to the district win, the band captured all the caption awards at the event held in Muncie. This was a Warsaw band first.

    Two area students are living in the Central American country of Belize this fall as part of the Goshen College Study-Service Trimester.

They are Janet Balmer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Balmer, Akron, and Susan Bolinger, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bolinger, Warsaw.

October 2 1954

    Max Truex, former Warsaw High School track great who set a new national interscholastic record of 4:20.4 for the mile run last spring, made his college debut a memorable one last Saturday when he led the southern California varsity cross-country team to a decisive victory in a practice meet over UCLA.

Truex, a freshman at southern California, broke all existing track records at the Westwood Hills course for the three-mile grind when he was clocked in the amazing time of 14:44.4

    Rev. E.M. Riddle, pastor of the Brethren Church, will celebrate his 15th anniversary in the ministry Sunday. He began his ministry in the Brethren Church in Linwood, Md., 15 years ago. He will use the text for his message that was chosen for his first pastorate 15 years ago.
