    Harold Schapson, manager of Ace Hardware, Warsaw, was honored for achieving the highest grade point average of all students in Indiana and Kentucky enrolled in the Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing.

The ACHR provides students with valuable product knowledge enabling them to provide a high level of personal customer service.

    Mark Francis and Barb Yoder beamed after being crowned King and Queen at the Wawasee High School homecoming festivities during the halftime of the football game with Twin Lakes last night. Both 17, their parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Francis and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Yoder, all of Syracuse. The runners-up were Tim Hamman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamman, and Kim Beezley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beezley, all of Syracuse.

    Major Joe E. Gerard, former North Webster High School coach, is at the naval amphibious base in Little Creek, Va., for a two-week training period. Major Gerard was recently recalled to duty with the Marine reserves.

His new course will give him special training in his function as a logistics officer.

    Word was received in Warsaw of the appointment of Gilbert Bidelman, son of John Bidelman, prominent farmer residing near Claypool, to the position of junior marketing specialist with the United States Department of Agriculture to a station in Georgia.

Bidelman reported for duty this morning in Washington, D.C. He is well known in Kosciusko County and northern Indiana as for the past two years he has been a state onion inspector.
