    NORTH MANCHESTER - Retired Wawasee track coach Jerry Minton will be honored at halftime of Saturday's Rose-Hulman and Manchester College football game.

The 1962 Manchester College graduate went on to a long and successful career at Wawasee High School, coaching track and cross country.

October 19 1981

    Recently, at Think Young Styling Center, Warsaw, Bob Buhler took his dummy, Josh, for a haircut. Bob, active in child evangelism ministry, recently purchased Josh but his hair appeared not quite right, so it was clipped. Josh wore a cape, and Bob, working Josh's eyes and mouth, put on quite a ventriloquist demonstration for patrons.

    Seth Lewis just a few days ago made golfdom's rarest shot - a hole-in-one - something every golfer dreams of but very few seldom achieve.

Lewis, local oil jobber and a resident of King's Highway, holed out his tee shot on hole No. 17, approximately 170 feet long, while playing in a calcutta match at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club course near Oswego. He used his No. 6 iron to make the shot.

    In Scott Township horses outnumber automobiles and trucks by a ratio of more than two to one. According to the report of the township assessor filed with County Assessor Bert E. Dausman, Scott Township has 395 horses valued at $26,699. There are 180 automobiles and trucks listed, valued at $22,540.
