Three members of the Warsaw Community High School girls' swim team finished in the top three places during the finals of the Northern Lakes Conference Championship meets Saturday. They are freshman Cathy Lundin, junior Kristi Sutton and sophomore Rachael Koehlinger. Lundin captured first place in the finals of the 100-yard butterfly, achieving a new conference record time of 59.64.
Tony Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook, 302 E. Fifth St., Winona Lake, receives a certificate as the "Outstanding Newspaper Carrier" for The Times-Union in a local climax to National Newspaper Week. Mike Case, circulation manager, made the presentation. Tony has been delivering The Times-Union for approximately 30 months and has 23 customers at Winona Lake. The Carrier of the Year award is based on managership of the newspaper route and scholastic standing in school.
Mrs. Clifford Sellers was elected president of the Monroe Home Economics Club Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. John Baker, Route 2, Pierceton. She succeeds Mrs. Joe Brygider who conducted the election.
Word was received in Warsaw this morning from the Indiana state highway commission that the new federal highway No. 30 which now runs from Warsaw to Plymouth on a direct east and west route will be changed and will follow the line of the Pennsylvania railroad in a northwesterly direction and will go through the towns of Atwood and Etna Green, which are not directly served by the present highway.
