    SYRACUSE - Andy Emerick recently recorded a hole-in-one while playing on the South Shore Golf Course.

Emerick aced the 140-yard, No. 5 hole on the course by using a Hogan 7-iron. Witnessing Emerick's ace was playing partner Dan Cooper.

    Mrs. T.T. Diller of the Warsaw Toastmasters Club was the winner of the Area 19 Speech Contest which was held recently at Fort Wayne. Diller now goes on to compete in the District 11 Northern Division Contest, also to be conducted in Fort Wayne laster this week.

The subject for the contest is "Our American Heritage."

    Warsaw High School participated in its first cross-country meet in modern history yesterday afternoon, and although the local thinlies finished last in team scoring, they managed to capture top individual honors when Max Truex romped home ahead of the field.

Truex, who as a freshman last spring starred in the mile run for the Warsaw track team, crossed the finish line in the excellent time of 10 minutes and 11 seconds.
