    A family recipe, submitted by Honey Hudson Kuhn of the Mentone Reading Club, has been selected for inclusion in the General Federation of Women's Clubs' recently-published cookbook. The recipe for cornbread was passed down from Mrs. Nellie Kercher to her daughter, Mrs. Alta Hudson, and on to her granddaughter, Mrs. Kuhn. The recipe was one of 847 chosen from 12,000 recipes submitted to the magazine.

    Exciting days are in store for the ladies of Warsaw and surrounding areas when John and Beulah Helfrich opened the doors of their newly acquired ladies apparel shop, at 109 S. Buffalo St., for a grand opening from Oct. 18 through Oct. 27.

Formerly known as the John Snell Women's Apparel store, the new name is now simply "Helfrich's."

October 16 1948

    Peggy Kernodle, former drum major at Webster High School, now a freshman at Ball State Teachers' College, was chosen one of two twirlers with the Ball State band for the school year. Peggy is the only girl and the only underclassman to receive this honor.

    Wallace Bowman, 18, son of D.A. Bowman, of this city, is teaching six pupils in a log cabin 18x20- foot schoolhouse at Lusk, Wyo. He sends an interesting photo of his school house and pupils.
