NORTH MANCHESTER - Tippecanoe Valley graduate Dion Anglin set an NAIA Division II record when he returned an interception 100 yards Saturday in a game against DePauw.
Four area couples have returned home following a whirlwind tour of Monte Carlo, Italy and France, compliments of the Gibson appliance company. Getting a glimpse of the European sights were County Councilman and Mrs. Carl Latta, Jones Hardware, Pierceton; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Romine, Romine Electric, Mentone; Mr. and Mrs. William Jagger, Jagger Hardware, Silver Lake; and Mr. and Mrs. John Yoder, Silver Lake.
Bob Silveus, of Etna Green, was the day's big money winner Sunday at the final stock car racing program at Playland Park in South Bend. Silveus won the 25-lap class A feature and a 10-lap heat event. Silveus had to come back late in the afternoon to do his winning, since he was involved in a three-car collision in the first event on the program.
Opening exercises were held at the local high school on Friday morning by members of the sophomore class. After singing several class songs members of the class brought a dummy labeled "Elkhart" into the room on a stretcher, and funeral services were conducted by John Snell, of Winona. As the stretcher was carried out, boys followed carrying shovels. Warsaw will meet Elkhart in football at the Beyer field on Saturday.
