    ANGOLA - It wasn't easy, but the Wawasee High School girls' swim team capped off the finest season in school history Tuesday night with a 103-83 victory over the Angola Lady Hornets.

The Lady Warriors, who used a 36-10 scoring margin in the final three events, finished the 1993 regular season with a 12-2 mark with the win in the regular season finale, which is the best in school history for the Lady Warriors swimming program.

    Brothers Marty and Carl Lauster, received The Times-Union's Carrier of the Year awards from Circulation Manager Michael Case to mark National Newspaper Week. Carl, 15, and Marty, 14, are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lauster, Winona Lake.

    Mrs. Roy Hauth, of East Center Street, reports that she has castor beans in her garden that are, as near as she can measure them, approximately 13 feet high. The seeds came from her son in Arizona and she says that they have caused a great deal of curiosity in the neighborhood.

    C.R. Bidelman, residing near Mentone, has a day book kept by his grandfather, Samuel Bidelman, who lived in New York state and was a tanner by trade. One item entered in the book, dated Dec. 8, 1827, was that of a pair of shoes re-soled for nine cents.
