    Sharon L. Sommers, Silver Lake, has been elected as an alternate delegate to the 108th annual meeting of the American Angus Association, Nov. 17-19 in Louisville, Ky.

Sommers is one of 262 Angus breeders who have been elected by fellow members of their state association to serve as an alternate representative.

    Rebecca Zellner, a freshman at Goshen College, has been chosen for the chamber choir this year by Dr. Marles Preheim, director.

Zellner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Zellner, 103 E. Twelfth St., Winona Lake. She graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1976. She will be singing alto.

October 15 1951

    D.A. Bowman, of North Cook Street, received a certificate of appreciation, issued by the President of the United States, for his assistance in the administration of the selective service act. Bowman served two years on the Kosciusko County draftboard. The certificate, which was issued June 19, 1951, carries the signatures of both President Harry S. Truman and Governor Henry F. Schricker, of Indiana.

    Elmer Funk, cashier of Lake City Bank, was commissioned and sworn in as a deputy sheriff this afternoon by Sheriff Frank McKrill.

Funk when asked if he contemplated on joining in on any raids for stills and bootleggers, replied: "Some men get a kick out of golf, I get mine in hunting bootleggers. I have accompanied Sheriff Maloy, Police Chief Winebrenner and Prosecuting Attorney Rockhill a number of times. I took part in a big raid held about a year ago."
