    Silver Lake Veterinary Clinic has added associate veterinarian Kathryn Kays, DVM, to its practice.

Kays, who completed an externship in the Silver Lake clinic in 1983, will provide primarily small animal services. She specializes in birds and small exotics.

    Two seniors at Tippecanoe Valley High School have been named merit program commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Principal Forst Dunnuck announced that the following students have received letters of commendation: Randall Kindig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Kindig, Rt. 1, Mentone, and James Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max E. Johnson, Rt. 1, Claypool.

    Three Warsaw Boy Scouts have been awarded cash prizes for their participation in the city-wide fire prevention inspection held in Warsaw last week. The prizes were based upon the discovery of hazards.

First prize of $7.50 went to Eddie B. Hatfield, Troop 36, of 602 W. Winona Ave.; second prize of $5.00 to Bruce Jeffers, Troop 30, Rural Route 2, Warsaw; and third prize of $2.50 to Harvey Hostettler, Troop 36, 610 S. Washington St.
