    Leesburg Elementary third-grade student LaraBeth Carter was a third-place winner in an essay contest sponsored by Family Circle magazine. The essay was about mothers. She is the daughter of Ted and Jan Carter of Oswego.

October 14 1975

    Phebe Jones, 14, was presented a certificate and a check for $70 following her selection as "The Times-Union Carrier of the Year." Mike Case, Times-Union circulation manager, makes the presentation, a highlight of National Newspaper Week. Phebe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Jones, 302 Herscher Drive, Warsaw.

    Maietta Whitehead, a freshman at Manchester College, has been selected as a baton twirler for the varsity band. Whitehead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Whitehead, Route 1, Warsaw, is majoring in elementary education.

October 14 1925

    A very successful tete-a-tete was held at the new Warsaw Country Club by wives of the club members. The affair was a benefit given in order for the ladies to be able to secure supplies for the club house. Over one hundred guests attended. Bridge and Mah Jongg were enjoyed. Mrs. James Duncan was awarded the bridge prize and Mrs. Ezra Graham the Mah Jongg prize.
