    Sue Ann Mitchell, Kosciusko County assessor, and State Sen. Harold Wheeler, were inducted into the hall of fame and received plaques during the Republican Hall of Fame dinner.

    Orthopedic Equipment Co. of Bourbon displayed a flag given the firm recently by the Department of Defense for achievement as a defense contractor. The firm has contracts for medical field military items and orthopedic internal fixation devices and accessories.

    Larry Poland, Warsaw High School senior, captured top honors at the National Forensic League student congress in Peru.

Larry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Poland, Winona Lake, won a gold medal as best speaker in the senate and was nominated to the national student congress.

October 14 1931

    J.H. Keefer, residing northeast of Leesburg, has produced a sweet potato, weighing about 2 pounds and which greatly resembles a sitting hen, with wings protruding from the sides, as if protecting peeps. The formation of the bill is perfect.
