The Whitko FFA horse judging team placed fourth in overall competition at the Solid Gold Futurity National Horse Judging Contest held Oct. 2, in Springfield, Ill.
The Winona Lake Town Board hired Terry Stephen Polston on a probationary basis to fill the deputy marshal slot to be vacated October 24 by Eddie Wright, who will become town marshal at Silver Lake.
Cadet Richard W. Cordill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cordill, South Whitley, has received his appointment as a sergeant in the United States Corps of Cadets. He is a senior at West Point military academy.
Sam Blocker is harvesting a big potato crop this year on his farm southwest of North Manchester. He dug 2,500 bushels from one field of between eight and 10 acres and has about 20 acres more to dig. He thinks he will have between five and six thousand bushels.
