    Five Warsaw Community High School seniors have been named commended students in the 1996 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Those honored are Kristin Gilbertson, Jason Maust, Sarah Regier, Sarah Stephens and Shelly Shockley.

    A pair of bowlers have turned in 700 series recently at Gilliam Lanes.

Roger Hyde rolled a 718 (203,257,258) in the Continental League and Stanley Galbreath got a 708 (257,257,194) in the Friday night Mixed League.

October 14 1955

    The expert rifleman medal, second highest award in American junior shooting, has been won by Kenneth Schubert, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Schubert, of 1326 E. Main St.

Shooting several hundred targets in the last few months, Schubert fired his way through 13 lower NRA qualifications to achieve his new rating.

    Mrs. Henry Herscher entertained the members of her bridge club at her home on East Main Street. There were three tables of bridge with Mrs. Waid Arnold winning first prize, and Mrs. Quincy Jones second.
