    Warsaw junior Jay Hicks won his third straight Northern Lakes Conference title at Ox Bow Park. Hicks was the overall winner by 26 seconds over teammate Ryan Long.

    BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - Indiana was represented in the list of new members approved by the board of directors of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America at their latest meeting. The state had 59 dairymen among the 1,819 persons joining the world's largest diary breed registry organization including six from nearby communities.

New national memberships were awarded to Fredric R. Beer, Milford; Gary L. Cumberland and Stephen M. and Laurena Cumberland, all of Claypool ; Jay Parker, Silver Lake; and Doyle Dean Hover, North Manchester.

    In observance of National Newspaper Week, William K. (Bill) Mollenhour was guest speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Kiwanis Club held Thursday noon at the Camel Club. Mollenhour, of the Warsaw Times-Union, discussed the question, "How Well Are The Newspapers Maintaining Their Public Trust, The Freedom of The Press?"

    Work on one of the finest high school buildings in the county and one of the best equipped county high schools of this section was started at Etna Green this morning (Oct. 7) when Lemler & Fields, contractors, broke ground for the construction of a new education structure to cost $30,558.

The new building will be equipped with all the modern conveniences and will include a large gymnasium room in which basket ball games will be featured.
