    Akron volleyball players are sporting a new design on their team shirts this year, thanks to eighth-grader Teri Whitaker. Coach Jane Hunn asked Whitaker to design a new shirt after seeing her art portfolio. Whitaker, 13, is the daughter of Rodney and Vickie Whitaker of Akron.

    NAPPANEE - Ruth Ann Brady, of Nappanee, won Best of Show for her matching quilt, pillow and picture entry in the craft fair held with Nappanee's Apple Festival this past weekend.

She received $25 for Best of Show. There were 95 entries in the craft fair.

    Donna Lee Barnhart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Barnhart, Leesburg, was elected secretary-treasurer of Chi Psi, Manchester College's math club. Barnhart, a graduate of North Webster High School, is a freshman and plans to major in business.

    The duplicate bridge pair championship cup awarded by the Indiana Auction Bridge Association at their annual tournament this week at Indianapolis was won by two Warsawans, Everett Anglin and Francis Bowser.

The Warsaw four, Everett Anglin, Francis Bowser, Mrs. D.J. Dalton and J.W. Whiteneck, finished fourth in the contest for fours.
