David Walters and several other members of Boy Scout Troop 715 spent several hours this summer at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw building a raised plant bed that allows wheelchair-bound residents to become involved in gardening.
Diane Kay Meredith, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Meredith, Rt. 1, Mentone, is The Times-Union Calendar Girl for October. The attractive senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School is captain of the "Marching Vikettes," who perform at football and basketball games. She is also a drum major of the TVHS band, a member of the National Honor Society, pep and stage band, swing choir and chorus and the pep block.
Mrs. Herbert Stamats, Warsaw and Stanton Lake, was elected state secretary treasurer of the Lamda Chi Omega Sorority, and Mrs. William Pittenger, Warsaw, was appointed as general chairman for the national sorority convention in Chicago in 1953 at the state sorority convention at Lake Wawasee.
The Widaman & McDonald Co., owners of The Centennial Theatre, closed a contract with the Marr Colton Organ Co., New York, for the installation of a new $10,000 pipe organ to be installed by November 22. It will be the finest organ in any theatre in a city this size in the state.
