Lincoln School fourth-graders Gabe Meerzo and Travis Parker got a real thrill Wednesday morning. As the winners of the districtwide paper airplane contest, they received a ride in the hot air balloon of Father Rick Stieglitz of Sacred Heart Church.
Ann Hummel, Box 233, Syracuse, has been promoted to P.B.X. service adviser for United Telephone Company of Indiana Inc. Mrs. Hummel joined United in 1961, and has served as commerical secretary until her recent promotion.
Bette Mikesell of Warsaw is included in the group of 116 Indiana University students ranking high in the English proficiency examination given recently at the state university.
Lorenzo Snoke can very distinctly remember how long he has been engaged in the blacksmith business in Claypool. He remarked in a casual manner that next week he would celebrate his 25 wedding anniversary and that he had been a blacksmith for nearly four years before making the selection of a life partner. Twenty-nine years under the spreading chestnut tree is Lorenzo's record, which entitles him to the honor of being the oldest continuous business man in the town.
