Jan Mattern of Bremen was recently honored for 30 years of service with United Telephone of Indiana at a dinner at Tippecanoe Place in South Bend. Mattern graduated from Atwood High School in 1956 and joined United Telephone in 1957 as an accounting clerk. Her husband, Carl, celebrated his 30th year with United last year.
Miss April Winkle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Winkle, Bourbon, was installed as worthy adviser of Bourbon Assembly No. 40, Orders of Rainbow for Girls, Saturday at the Masonic Temple. Other elective officers being installed are Kandi Baker, worthy associate adviser; Jaymie Wanamacher, charity; Kathie Dennie, hope; and Eve Welty, faith.
Mrs. Edna Smith has resigned her position in the Claypool post office and Harmon Wharton has accepted the position.
A fractured or dislocated right shoulder will probably keep Donald Stamates, Warsaw High School quarterback, from participating in the Elkhart-Warsaw game at Elkhart tomorrow. Stamates sustained the injury in last Saturday's game here with Goshen.
