November 9 1990

    Aime A. Hoffman has been placed on the Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne dean's list for the 1989-90 academic year. Those students who achieved this distinguished status were recently honored at the 1990 Academic Honors Convocation held at IPFW.

The supervisor/personnel major is the daughter of Bill and Bev Long, Hoffman Lake. She and her husband, Hal, reside near Claypool.

    The Whitko Speech team traveled to Carroll High School over the weekend where 22 schools and 330 students competed.

Becki Mink placed first for the Talkin' Wildcats in poetry. Other competing for Whitko were Holly Stark, Angie Harter, Norman Coffman, Leah Hartman, Penny Warren, Tony Starkey, Jon Meyers, Terry Kessie, Jeanette Billings and Jeff Hazel.

November 9 1950

    A petite brunette of 16 years, Jane Iler, Rochester, will reign over the land of potatoes, onions and mint for the coming year. Iler was crowned Muck Crop Queen as the final event of the annual Northern Indiana Muck Crop Show here at the fairgrounds armory. Sharing the spotlight with Iler were Dean Grady, Syracuse, who was crowned the 1950 Potato King, and Fred Fraser, Rochester, who now wears the crowns of the Muck Crop King and the Onion King for the second consecutive year.

November 9 1925

    The first anniversary of the Methodist Junior Church was marked Sunday by the largest attendance during the year. Mrs. Roy VanCuren conducted the Home Mission work for the day. Dorothy Davis read a paper on Lincoln and Junior Dederick gave a talk on Roosevelt. Florence Johnson concluded with a talk on the character of Jesus.
