    Most Valuable Player awards for the fall sports season were awarded earlier this week at Wawasee High School. MVP winners for the Warriors and Lady Warriors are Daniele Laub (swimming), Crystal Clipfell (volleyball), Amber Esenwein (golf), Bill Sohl (cross country), Justin Ward (tennis), David Antu (football) and Jamie Emmert (cross country).

    Marine Cpl. Kim L. Gearhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gearhart, 320 W. Bass St., Warsaw, recently participated in exercise "Fortress Lightning" in the Republic of the Philippines.

He is serving as a member of Battalion Landing Team Three Slant Nine (BLT 3/9), homebased in Okinawa.

    The revolving beacon at Warsaw Municipal Airport is now controlled by an electric eye, according to airport board member Earl Parker. Parker said the sensitive eye would automatically turn the beacon on at a certain shade of darkness and turn it off at a certain degree of lightness.

Airport officials also reported that three aircraft in trouble over northern Indiana after hours of darkness have been guided to safe landing at Warsaw within the past two weeks.

    P.J. Fogle, who resides on the shore of Chapman Lake, was in Warsaw Friday and followed his usual custom of treating The Times force with a liberal quantity of his celebrated horehound candy. This is the time of year that Fogle makes this kind of candy, really of a quality that is unobtainable on the market.
