    Major Paul M. Goodman and Sgt. Jerry L. Auer recently participated in the major Strategic Air Command exercise, "Mighty Warrior '89."

Goodman is an electronic warfare officer with the 9th Bombardment Squadron at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas. Auer is a personnel specialist with the 379th Bombardment Wing at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Mich.

    Work is progressing on a new addition to the Holiday Inn, east of Warsaw on East Center Street. This new portion is located at the northwest section of the present facilities. The unit will be a four-story structure, 78 by 64 feet, with 12 rooms on each floor.

    Everett E. Rookstool, of Beaver Dam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Rookstool, has been awarded a $25 bond as state 4-H dairy production achievement winner and will compete for regional and national honors, it was announced by Bill Johnson, the assistant county agent.

Rookstool moved up to state competition by taking first place in the county elimination. Barbara Thompson, of Warsaw, placed second in the county.

    Hershel Cook, special agent for the Winona Service Co. offices here, today noon spoke before the Akron Chamber of Commerce, as representative of the interurban line. Cook spoke on freight transportation.
