A weather transmitting balloon which Bill Mollenhour, of the WRSW and Times-Union staff and a member of the state aeronautics commission, said was one of 400 released each day by the U.S. Army signal corps, was found by Eugene Riggenberg in a field just west of his house two miles south of Pierceton.

Printed on the rectangular box was "Signal Corps, U.S. Army, Modulator Radiosonde." Riggenberg also found some film in the bottom of the box, which Mollenhour explained was used to register cosmic rays.

Russell Bolinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Bolinger, was honored by being the only student of the school of music of Indiana University who was asked to sing at the American Association of University Women's Fete. Bolinger is a member of the freshman class and should be complimented since he is the only member of the large class to be selected to represent the school of music at this honorary society meeting.
