    When Rick Dilling was 10 years old, he scored higher on the math portion of the SAT exam than the majority of college freshmen. When he took the PSAT, he missed only one math problem, scoring 78 in that section.

When he was 12, he skipped eight and ninth grades to become a Warsaw Community High School sophomore. In May 1990, he will become perhaps the youngest student in WCHS history to participate in graduation ceremonies.

    The Warsaw Girls' Club was host to 107 girls, and 13 of those for the first time ever.

Bingo winners included Beth Landis, Andi Kraig, Amy Kinsey and Lisa Stephens, while Nan Julian was the black-out winner.

November 3 1950

    Merl Smith, of Syracuse, has been appointed national commissioner of the All-American Drum Majors Association. The organization, with headquarters in Chicago, is a subsidiary of the All-American Drum and Bugle Corps and Band Associations.

Smith won national championship honors as a baton twirler at the Chicagoland Music festival in Soldiers Field. At present he is on the faculty of the Jordan College of Music in Indianapolis.

    John Hansman, Republican mayoralty candidate, polled more votes yesterday than were ever given any mayor of Warsaw, winning in one of the hardest fought political campaign ever staged in the city.

His vote was 1,728 against 1,087 for his opponent, Dr. A.C. McDonald, the former receiving a majority of 641.
