City Police Cpl. David E. Curtis was named "Policeman of the Year" during the Kosciusko County Fraternal Order of Police Associate Banquet held at the Shrine Building in Warsaw. The award stems from Curtis' quick action when an area man suffered a heart attack while driving through downtown Warsaw last January and the vehicle slammed into three parked cars. Cpl. Curtis was first to arrive at the scene and used mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to revive the man.

Lester Leedy, Warsaw insurance agent, recently visited a home in Mentone to collect his weekly industrial insurance premium. As he entered the home the family physician came walking out of the bed chamber with a baby, born just a moment previously, held carefully in his arms. "Write a policy on that new fellow," said the father. Leedy complied and for the time being had the youngest policy holder in the world.
