One of the privileges of living in this area is the goodwill expressed by neighbors at times when most needed. One day recently they went to his farm home with machinery and picked 60 acres of corn. Their wives served dinner.

Another week of warm weather and some Kosciusko County farmers might be able to harvest a second crop of oats this years.

A large bundle of second-growth oats stalks, fully two-thirds ripe and green and well developed was displayed here today by Carl Shroyer. The stalks were taken this morning from the farm of Lewis Shroyer, county commissioner, near Chapman Lake and Dutchtown, and were almost 4 feet tall with well-developed grains. Experienced farmers said they have in other years seen second-growth oats but none as near ripened and well developed.
