    WINONA LAKE - Dr. Donald DeYoung, chairman of the physical science department at Grace College, is the author of the newly released "Weather and the Bible: 100 Questions and Answers," published by Baker Books Inc.

The book is a concise overview of everyday weather questions such as: Is the Earth warming? Is every snowflake really different? What is the greenhouse effect? Do oak trees actually attract lightning?

    A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently near the Civic Center in Burket for construction of a new fire station. Ready to scoop up the earth were John Huff, Burket fire chief and president of the Kosciusko County Firemen's Association; John Tucker, assistant fire chief; Dave Kuhn, town board member and volunteer fireman; Bill Griffis, board member; Matt Shafer, president of the board and volunteer fireman; and Margaret Babcock, clerk-treasurer.

November 26 1952

    A crappie caught last May 4 at Yellow Creek Lake has just won a season's prize of $25 for Everett Lawson, Elkhart, who owns a cottage at Yellow Creek. The fish, which weighed two pounds and 14 ounces and was 14 inches long and 11-3/4 inches wide, was judged the largest of its species caught during the past season in northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

    Elizabeth Young, Winona Lake, who, with her sister, Prof. Anne S. Young, of Mt. Holyoke College, spent last summer traveling in Europe, has been giving a series of delightful lectures on their sightseeings for the instruction and pleasure of her friends and neighbors. She will speak at the next Winona Club meeting on Norway and show some pictures of the land of the midnight sun.
