    The 10th Annual ABCDE No-Tap Tournament was held at Gilliam Lanes and Holiday Bowl. Sixty bowlers entered the event.

Heather Collins, John Peterson, Penny Hendrickson, Jeff Gordon and Glen Ransbottom were on the first-place team. Their total pin fall was 7,453 with handicap. They received $250.

    Remember one day about 30 some years ago when Norm Hugo's (whose father owned and operated the Warsaw Cut Glass factory here years ago) pretty blonde sister, Evelyn, came to town with none other than Doris Day to stay a day or so before the two of them continued to Hollywood? And all of us converged on the Hugo home to meet Doris and visit Evie? She was Doris' movie stand-in for years - is married, lives out on the west coast.

November 24 1956

    Open house ceremonies for opening of the new Atwood school addition were held Nov. 19.

The new addition consists of eight rooms, six of which are for elementary classes, one for vocational home economics and the other for vocational agriculture shop. The latter two are not equipment at present, but will be for the 1957-58 school year.

November 24 1931

    The coldest Thanksgiving day in many years was experienced here just a year ago today. Nine inches of snow on the previous day and night had fallen and the mercury took a drop to zero. Trains were running hours behind schedule. Two engines were used on some passenger trains. Highways were closed by drift and autos were abandoned in drifts. Radiators were frozen and bursted and wrecking cars were towing in stranded cars into the crowded uptown garages all Thanksgiving morning one year ago.
