    The designation of Certified Insurance Counselor has been conferred upon Marvin P. Miller, of Wes Miller Insurance at 2132 E. Center St., Warsaw, following his successful completion of a rigorous insurance education program sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to professional insurance education.

    Sixteen residents from Kosciusko County were among 228 new Scottish Rite Masons receiving the 32nd degree at the conclusion of the Fall Convocation held recently in the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Fort Wayne. These men were members of the Robert H. Hutchinson Memorial Class consisting of candidates from 21 Indiana counties.

New members include, John P. Hogan, Rex D. Hogan, James W. Johnson, Jerry T. Laurien, Dennis D. Lowry, Larry Long, James F. Miller, Lee Neal, Ronald D. Truex, Warsaw; James A. Haney, Richard E. Piekart Jr., Syracuse; David W. Smith, Pierceton; Roger L. Caldren, Robert D. Ferverds, Leesburg; Donald L. Jernigan, Willis Newby, North Webster.

    A.H. (Abe) Caldwell, charter member of the Akron Lions Club, was honored at the club's monthly meeting when he was awarded a Master Key for having sponsored 12 or more members into the organization. He is the first member of the club to be so honored. Roy Meredith, secretary of the club, also presented Caldwell with a walnut plaque with his name engraved on it.

    A delightful affair took place at the Methodist Church Tuesday evening when a dinner was served by the "Bacon Bringers," losers of a contest held during the recent evangelistic services here, to the "Go Getters," the winners. Music and games were enjoyed following the dinner. An unusually large crowd attended the affair.
