    A photograph of Soviet residents at a new village in the Soviet Union has been honored by International Photographer Magazine. The picture was taken by Winona Lake resident Betty Phelps. People pictured in the photo were relocated to the village from their homes near the Chernoble nuclear accident.

November 2 1975

    Warsaw voters topped a venerable institution in Mayor Paul E. (Mike) Hodges by casting a smashing 455 votes more for Democrat H. Dale Tucker.

Tucker becomes the city's fourth Democrat mayor in a century of voting, and he brings two Democrats to the Warsaw Common Council - Donald O. Bixel, who defeated incumbent Republican Kenneth Truman, and Fred J. Boggs, who bettered Republican L.R. (Lec) Wangler.

November 2 1950

    A 17-year-old 4-H club girl, Carolyn Bowen, Claypool, took top honors last night at the annual potato salad contest, one of the opening features of the annual Muck Crop show, which will run through Friday at the fairgrounds.

Second place in the contest was also captured by a 4-H club girl, Donna Becker, 16, of Akron. The girls received chests of silverware. The contestants were judged on the appearance of the salad, its flavor and their preparation practices.

    Mr. and Mrs. Zenith Campbell, recently married, were very pleasantly surprised Monday evening at their home west of Leesburg. Their neighbors and members of the Mt. Tabor Church of God called to welcome Mrs. Campbell, who comes from Montpelier. An oyster supper was served and a general good time enjoyed.
