Roger Smoker, Eagle Creek Farms, Warsaw, won supreme champion recently at the Minnesota State Highland Show with yearling bull Schoen Boden's Cody.
Winona Lake's retired postmaster Phil Laurien, artist, oldest surviving member of Winona's volunteer fire department and bowler, recently was honored at a banquet held at the Elks Club, with nearly 400 persons attending the Indiana Bowling Jamboree. He was presented a plaque for 75 years of bowling and serving in the capacities of team captain, league secretary, league president and associate director, secretary and president, in the local area.
Robert Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Williams, 326 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw, has been named accompanist for the Indiana University's "Singing Hoosiers," male chorus of some 75 voices.
Ninety-six years means nothing to Jacob Elgenfritz. This morning he walked to his voting place in the second precinct of the Third ward in Warsaw and cast his straight Republican vote just as he had cast it 70 years ago for Lincoln when he was a soldier in the field with the Union Army. Despite his advanced years, Elgenfritz is in good health and is fully informed on current events.
