    Lois Smith Cobb, Warsaw, was rooting for the Minnesota Twins in the World Series for reasons of her own recently. Cobb's grandson, Dustin Edward Gerry, of North Fort Myers, Fla., was featured as "an all-American boy" on the cover of the teams' spring training camp program - the first for the new stadium. No doubt the books are now collectors' items.

    The Lakeland Art Association met recently at the Cardinal Center when Jim Scott, of the Sandhill Church Studio, Rochester, presented an interesting program on woodcuts, print making, etching and lithography.

Scott is also an oil painter. After 15 years as a commercial artist in Chicago and as art director for Marshall Fields & Co., he is content with his new adventure, devoting his full time to fine arts.

November 2 1951

    Dean Grady, Syracuse, winner of the 1950 state potato crown, will retain his title for a second year.

Grady produced 717.4 bushels of Katahdin potatoes on his winning acre this year and in 1950 produced the all-time high record of 807 bushels of the same variety, according to Roscoe Frasier, vegetable specialist at Purdue University.

    George Fisher, Warsaw High School coach, giant tackle and former Conference star while playing at Indiana University, was signed last night by Manager Canning to play with the JJCs, starting this afternoon, when the Indianapolis pro representatives tangle with Cooney Checkaye's famous Muncie Congervilles at Washington Park at 2:30 o'clock, says the Indianapolis Star.
